Roman Seoska uciteljica (1898) hronoloski je drugi od ukupno tri Rankoviceva objavljena romana. Delo je napisano u manastiru Bukovo gde se pisac lecio od tuberkuloze. Pripada poslednjoj fazi epohe realizma u knjizevnosti, pa je u njemu stvarnost prikazana kao sumorna, pojednici su beskrupulozni, a selo liseno svake idile. Kroz mnogobrojne opise slozenih unutrasnjih monologa, pisac nam u ovom psiholoskom romanu prikazuje tragicnu sudbinu mlade Ljubice kojoj susret sa seoskom sredinom, u kojoj ova uciteljica dobija svoje prvo zaposlenje, neocekivano donosi veliko razocaranje i patnju.
