Northern Brandenburg is one of the regions in Germany with the highest level of poverty. Local congregations are sensitively aware of poverty and are taking it into consideration when organizing the life in communities and districts. The Uckermarck-Study of the Social Sciences Institute of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) shows the impact of poverty on private and public life which serves as an example for other structurally weak areas, too.
