An Artistic Exploration of Three Women's Lives

Gomez-Vega, a very distinguished Cuban-born writer, spins an artistic tale by weaving the lives and loves of several southwestern women together. This book explores the many internal conflicts and external prejudices a woman may encounter as she struggles to define her sexual identity. This book is a must read; it will touch a cord in young women with similar struggles as well as show the rest of the world that these women live and love much like the rest: with devotion and passion, and in the midst of a family environment. Gomez-Vega includes many controversial subjects in her work: the pain of parental loss and disproval, religious skepticism, and community discord. In the end, however, she is able to paint a complete picture. Although not perfect, it shines a hopeful light on the sexual revolution.
