We are in this together

I wrote this book, but why? Is it my job to entertain you, to ease your pain by sharing mine? Should I find the words to make you smile, or pull out a tear or two? Do I really write these things for you, or do I write them down for me? Do I please you? Do I ease your mind? What exactly is the nature of our relationship? I bare my soul to you in the form of a poem, a rant, a short story, or however it comes out. You can see, understand, and know what my agony is, but I will never know yours, or will I? You read my words, but I can never talk to you about how they make you feel, or can I? It is a one sided relationship we have, or maybe it's not. I am giving all I am, in hopes that one thing I write will stick with you, inspire you, or have an impact in your life in a way that might help you get through. Let's face it, life is rough, for all of us. There are no exceptions to that rule, we all must suffer. Maybe that is why I write. I write so that you know that you are not alone in your misery, your tears, your worries, or even you happiness. We are all able to reach out to one another in some unique way if only to say, "Hey, I know exactly what you mean, and you are never really alone." I can also know that you are out there, reading these words, and I know that I am not alone either.
