Christ for Sale What does it take to get your prayers answered? Perhaps your prayers are misdirected When it comes to wealth, the Bible tells us that "godliness with contentment is great gain," but that's not what you hear from the electronic preachers of today One "prosperity" preacher told his television audience, "Money is supposed to come to you. Turn to somebody and say 'I'm supposed to be rich.' Turn to somebody else and say, 'I'm supposed to be wealthy.'" And like robots the crowd repeated his words and gestures. Then he had the crowd stand and go through the motions of pulling invisible slot machine levers while chanting, "Moneeeeeeey cometh to me-now " He repeated his ritual several times, then said, "You're putting the demand up to God "We are warned in Scripture to avoid "perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself" (1 Timothy 6:5). Within God's Word, there is no dollar sign before the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
