Self-esteem is the set of evaluative judgments that the individual makes of himself. The sense of self-esteem derives from our wealth of knowledge, from self-knowledge and from the situations experienced by the subject, from the affective elements that influence our sensitivity in feeling and receiving feelings, from the social elements that condition belonging to some group and whether or not to receive approval from its members. The fundamental characteristic of self-esteem is that it is a purely subjective perception and, as such, changeable and dynamic over time. The sense of self-esteem comes from the relationships that everyone internalizes and reworks, both towards ourselves and interpersonal ones. Self-esteem relates more to what everyone feels and thinks about themselves than to what others think of us.
