It is believed that they have been dwelling here much before the advent of Aryans. India, as of today, has the single largest tribal population in the world. After theundertaking of the Aryans in the tribal regions of the Indian subcontinent, the tribal communities and the Aryans persisted to exist in separate spaces in terms of cultural, social, political lives. The National Policy on Education in 1968 was a huge attempt to equalize educational opportunities among all sections of the country. However, as stated in the National Education Policy (2020) "children from tribal communities continue to find their school education irrelevant and foreign to their lives, bothculturally and academically."
