The Chafras around Cyron are on board a modern Cherite subspace cruiser on its way from Earth to Genro, their home planet. The hope of returning to their old life with all its quirks gradually turns into a nightmare. Because in their world everything has changed. Nothing is the way it used to be and it is not the changes themselves that cause a problem. Rather, it is the realization that the newly acquired knowledge about their origin, origins and past is not only incomplete, but downright dark. Once again they rise up in an unintentional fight, go against an enemy that is more powerful than anything they have ever seen before, make sacrifices and make decisions that bring changes not only in the here and now and the future, but that go beyond the known continuity of time, space and dimensions. Repeatedly they get help, this time however from a friend, who doesn't really want to fit into the typical scheme and only very reluctantly reveals himself as such.
