HCS is a partial section of one or more motor collaterals of a muscle deemed to have excessive spasticity. It is indicated in cases of localized and bothersome spasticity, following a careful and thorough preoperative evaluation that includes a motor block with anesthetic, the purpose of which is to temporarily and reversibly replicate the effects of the surgical procedure in order to assess its efficacy and potential side effects.
