The third volume of the Selected Works includes two writings. The first is a collection of short children's stories about events that took place in Moscow in the mid-1950s, ten years after the end of the Second World War. The stories may appeal to both children and adults. Children will find many genuinely funny episodes and will be able to see the Russian capital of the mid-twentieth century through the eyes of a twelve-year-old boy. Adults, in turn, will have the opportunity to look at the same events through their own eyes and to laugh as well-or perhaps to feel a touch of sadness. The second part of the volume is "The Red Zigzag." These are the author's recollections, centered on the story of a private beekeeping partnership led by young Moscow scientists. The action takes place both in Moscow and in the rural areas of the Voronezh and Saratov regions in the late 1970s and early 1990s, against the backdrop of the dramatic events unfolding in Soviet Russia at that time.
