John Hilton is a poet and author who has lived in Bath since 2020. Prior to this, he spent most of his life in Bristol. He has published many volumes of poetry, two novels, four collections of short stories and two volumes of spiritual essays. He also paints.
Selected Poems 1993 to 2025 brings together a wide ranging and generous selection from three and a bit decades of poetry from the author of Voices and That is the Question. It encompasses a broad spectrum of tone, subject matter and form, utilising direct language and often carrying an intense emotional charge. There is emotionally expressive poetry, narrative poems both short and long and various experiments in expression and viewpoint. There are sad poems, happy poems, challenging poems, unreliable narrators, funny poems, angry poems, ridiculous poems, poems of heartbreaking loss and a lot more besides. There is a lot in here (take a look at that index ). John takes his poetry very seriously but he likes the odd (sometimes very odd) joke too.
