As Los Angeles buckles into panic, Cal learns a private disaster contractor is using the emergency network to sacrifice one dense corridor of the city, then emerge as the only force capable of "saving" what remains. Iona is trapped inside the target zone. To reach her, Cal will have to move through collapsing tunnels, flooded stations, armed response teams, and one woman who helped design the trap-and may be the only person who can stop it.

By dawn, the city will call it an earthquake.
