The application of multimedia to assist learning has a huge potential in education, including sports education. This study attempts to investigate the effects of segmented multimedia on novice soccer players' tactical, technical, engagement and motivation. A total of 60 novice players from a soccer sports school in Qatar were involved in this quasi-experimental study in which they were randomly selected and divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of 30 players who were treated with the segmented multimedia (MSV) while the control group involved another 30 players (treated with the non-segmented multimedia, MNSV). The performance of these players in terms of their tactical and technical skills were observed and assessed by two coaches. The observation result showed that the MSV group performed significantly better in terms of tactical and technical skills than the MNSV group. This study can contribute to the field of instructional design, especially in learning psychomotor skills that involve technical and tactical skills in specific sports - there is a need to have the content segmented to assist students' learning.
