Seeking Spiritual Strength has various subjects designed to strengthen one's faith. None of us is as strong spiritually as we would like to be. Every sincere Christian is seeking to grow as a child of God. We are told to add to our faith--virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love (2 Pet. 1:5-11). Our only instruction book on how to do this is God's word. Without apology there is a strong emphasis on Scripture throughout this book. The author believes strongly that the bible is the word of God and is the final and ultimate authority in all religious matters (John 12:48; Rev. 20:12; 1 Cor. 4:6; 1 Cor. 14:37; 2 Thess. 2:15; etc.). In the world in which we live, Satan is out to destroy us. He wants to take us to hell where he is going (Matt. 25:41). He is our adversary who seeks to deceive us. We must never underestimate him. Peter refers to Satan as a "roaring lion" (1 Pet. 5:8). A roaring lion can destroy us. Paul said, "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Eph. 6:10-11). We must "put on the whole armor of God" so that we "shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one" (Eph. 6:16).It is my earnest and sincere desire that a careful and diligent study of each chapter will deepen and strengthen the faith of each Christian. The chapters rerpresent different aspects of daily Christian living. The main focus of each chapter (paralleled to the order in the book) is as follows:(1) The power and importance of prayer(2) the folly of trusting in man's wisdom and man's thinking(3) The choice everyone must make: wisdom or foolishness(4) The folly of self-centeredness, inflamed passion, and ingratitude(5) Seeking a God-approved heart(6) Looking at sex from a biblical perspective(7) Searching for meaning and purpose to our existence(8) The problem of how to relate and react to suffering/hardships(9) Practicing the second greatest commandment--to love one's neighbor as oneself(10) The importance of being prepared to enter into eternity(11) Worship must be God-directed not man-directed in order to be accepted by God(12)The importance of Bible study(13) Practicing the first greatest commandment--to love God with "all" one's heart, soul, mind, and strength
