Amid the complexities and busyness of our modern world, serenity is often difficult to find. In many cases, there seems to be no time for enjoying outdoor recreation, or for slowing down, and simply living within the natural world that we were meant to be an integral part of. Serenity tends to get blown away by the whirlwind of life, leaving us with the feeling that something is missing. That "something", that feeling of peace and tranquility that is often missing, is readily available within the forests, fields, and waters of our natural world.
Author John Highlen has been roaming the American wilderness for much of his life. Sometimes with serenity as the primary focus. Other times, there were different goals, with serenity being a valuable fringe benefit. Growing up in Michigan and being a lover of the north woods, many of John's outdoor adventures have taken place within the wilds of the Lake Superior region. This book is a collection of those wilderness adventure stories covering Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Isle Royale National Park, and Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
