Old enough to be history, but written so it will never be out of date.

The writer, Olive M. Anderson, takes a slow day-long walk around the lake where her Rev. Hubby and she built a cabin on government rented ground. It is rustic and basic, a perfect getaway from work. Now, it is threatened with loss. On her slow hike, Olive remembers days past, with friends, with wildlife who she also considers friends, having vacationed in the Upper Michigan location most of her adult life. She remembers taking special photographs of animals, flowers, as well as her children's activities in the woods and on the water. She recalls neighbors who have come and gone. She teaches of Michigan and woods natural life in a pleasant, friendly, home-spun sort of way. Readers will be swept up in the breeze off the lake, smell the aroma of wildflowers, and hear the twitter of special bird friends that you meet while taking this walk with Olive. She packed a lunch, so sit on the log under a shade tree and pipe along with a song sparrow, expect to face a chipmunk, or even find yourself sitting in the lake-muck from an unexpected spill from the boat. Olive won't take you too fast, after all, the times were about the 1940s to 1970, much slower, more wilderness, and richer...as you will discover reading "Seeker at Cassandra Marsh." 4 stars, or should I say, 4 cattails, for this quiet adventure from the swamp-lady of the north. One to place on your Christian book shelf--near the nature section.
