Each entry has a detailed description that includes the original Japanese characters, English translation, and a commentary by John Stevens, a world authority on Zen art and artists. Seeing Zen includes heretofore unpublished art work by every major Zen artist - Ikkyu, Fugai, Takuan, Mokuan, Jozan, Hakuin, Sengai, Jiun, Gocho, Suio, Torei, Rengetsu, Tesshu, Nantenbo, and others. Published to coincide with a major exhibition of Felix Hess' Kaeru-an Collection at the Czech National Museum in Prague in Autumn 2020.
