A MUST-READ FOR TEACHERS OF WRITING

As a graduate student who will soon be joining the ranks of hardworking professionals teaching College English, I would like to note how helpful and insightful Elizabeth Rankin's book was to me. After reading Rankin's descriptions of the lives of teaching assistants and their classroom experiences, I realized that I'm not alone in my trepidations and that my fears are not entirely unfounded. I appreciated the depth in which she went to describe the obstacles new college teachers face and how it is essential to "make teaching personal without taking it personally." This book is truly a must for anyone thinking of teaching English (especially writing) at the college level. Thank you, Elizabeth Rankin. Well done!
