Absolutely Loved!!

This series is fast becoming my favorite! I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite among the MacGregor men ! I have fallen in love with these books and this writer. A must read if u love Scottish historical fiction!!!!!

Hot Read

As a fan of Scottish historical romances, I was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to review Paula Quinn's Seduced by a Highlander. To my delight, I soon discovered this was a book that had all of the fundamental elements of a sweeping romance, as well as a few surprises along the way. I fell in love with the hero, Tristan MacGregor, from the start. You know he's a man who is accustomed to women fawning over him, but from the moment he meets saucy Isobel Fergusson -- the daughter of his sworn enemy -- you learn there is far more to the man than meets the eye. As someone who has suffered an extreme and unforgettable loss, he also has a compassion for others that runs very deep. Due to this, Isobel fascinates him. She's as proud as he is, equally complex, and though she denies it wants him as much as he wants her. The first few chapters establish this chemistry and, in a wonderfully paced story that focuses on romance versus sexual tension, I found myself unable to put the book down. The secondary characters are equally complex and are also given proper time to shine. In some circumstances an abundance of characters can become confusing or take away from the story. Not so here. Instead you are given the opportunity to watch two families who have suffered start to grieve, accept, and heal. I loved the scenes with Isobel's brother's and Tristan, as well as scenes involving Tristan's family when he reveals his love for his enemy, mends old wounds, and guides everyone toward a future that doesn't include bitterness or resentment. Seduced by a Highlander is a must read for historical romance fans, especially those with a love of Scottish heroes and unforgettable love stories. While there is plenty of angst, there is also a lot of heart. I was thoroughly engaged from start to finish and read the entire book in one sitting. That is rarity for me, especially when reading a full length novel. Once I was introduced to Tristan and Isobel, I couldn't stop reading until I knew how things worked out for them. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series, and fully intend to purchase the first book which I somehow managed to miss. Seduced by a Highlander has established Paula Quinn as a must read author on my TBR list. Originally posted at: [...]

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

I absolutely adored this book. It's not often that you come across a romance that has you laughing out loud and you're not in the least bit annoyed by it. Though some would be put off by all the antics amongst Isobel's brothers and Tristan, I thought they were refreshing and laugh out loud funny. And I don't believe the endearing comedic moments in this book took away from the romance between Tristan and Isobel. I thought Tristan was such a charmer! A silver tongue, indeed. Isobel was a great herione as well. Overall, I loved this book and gave it 5 stars because I really did enjoy reading it.

Paula Does It Again

Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE Paula Quinn? I reviewed her first book in this series, Ravished By A Highlander and loved loved loved it! I was totally stoked to get her second book in the series Seduced by a Highlander. I dove right into it and she did not disappoint. If anything, she gave you more! In the first book, Tristan is mentioned here and there, but all you think of him is that he is a woman's man, a man women can't get enough of, a player I believe we would have called it in this day and age. But in this book, you get to delve deep into Tristan, to find out why he is who he is, why he does what he does, and you are truly rooting for him to win the heart of his woman. You feel the pain that changed, but will what happened in the past change him forever? Or will he overcome his demons? And Isobel, I adored her. A strong woman who has been taking care of her brothers since they were orphaned at a young age. You can feel her conflict as she is drawn to Tristan but her hatred of his family, who killed her father, is hard to overcome. I love her as the story's heroin. Isobel's brothers add so much to the story, their interaction with Tristan, their distrust, their testing of him, their pain when feelings of their father's death resurface. It's also so much fun to read Paula weave events from the first book into this book. You now know what Tristan was off doing while Robert and Davina were fighting for her life and their love. If you love a good Scottish romance you should definitely pick this up. Paula Quinn is one of my favorite authors right now and I don't want to miss any of her books! I want to thank Paula Quinn personally for sending me this book when I missed the cut off to sign up for her blog tour! Wonderfully talented writer, beautiful person as well!

fresh seventeenth century romance

In 1685 Tristan MacGregor attends the coronation of the Duke of York as the king. He rescues Isobel Fergusson, but also roguishly kisses her. They spend time together during the galas as they are attracted to one another. However, Isobel loathes his clan who killed her father and her kin; leaving her to raise her siblings on a patch of nothingness. Her family and his are hostile adversaries. Isobel returns home thinking of Tristan on the way and once she arrives there, she still cannot move pass his image. She knows she loves her rake. Tristan reciprocates. He decides he will marry the woman he loves and let the feud be damned, but she refuses. Patiently he tries to persuade her that he is until she finally begins to believe him. Tristan brings his beloved and her siblings to meet his family announcing they will marry. Both clans are stunned but reactions lead to shocking disclosures by MacGregor and Fergusson family members. Though the theme of feuding clans has been used frequently in historicals romances, Paula Quinn provides a fresh seventeenth century romance mostly due to lead couple especially the latest MacGregor (see Ravished by a Highlander and Laird of the Mists). Tristan with his persistence and tolerance makes the story line great as he calmly persuades his beloved (and her siblings) to trust her heart that he believes leads to him. Seduced by a Highlander is another winning historical by always dependable for excellence Paula Quinn. Harriet Klausner

Readers never grow tired of Paula Quinn's Delightful Characters

When you are growing up your family raises you to act one way, as an adult you start to believe in your heart that you could be another kind of person and then you encounter someone who releases you to be all these things and more. When you heart meets the source that causes it to beat you find peace in your soul and the strength to be a better person. Tristan MacGregor and Isobel Fergusson families have a long running feud that has brought more than enough bloodshed and death to both sides. The families were raised to hate each other and while Tristan has some reservations about this philosophy, Isobel on the other hand despises him and everything his family name brings up. Isobel lost both parents and has been forced to raise her younger brothers on a barely survivable piece of land all the while cursing the MacGregor's for causing this misery. The years have made her bitter and angry toward the MacGregor's and even after she meets Tristan and listens to all those charming words he says while the dimple flashes in his smile it cannot melt her heart, or can it. Tristan knows from the moment he had set his eyes upon Isobel that she is the one for him but how to convince her of this is a whole other matter. Tristan long ago buried the anger he felt at his family losses during this feud even the guilt from his belief he brought all this upon the families when a childish fight moved men to push one another to despair. But the depth of his feelings for Isobel shake him to his boots and when he chases her to her home and starts a collision of incidents that would drive weaker men away he is more than ever convinced Isobel is the woman for him. Now Tristan must show his sincerity to Isobel and prove that his feelings are pure in nature not brought about to cause more pain and that is a whole other feat he may not accomplish. Tristan must contend with her attitude, all those brothers that are looking for trouble and one in particular that needs to be tamed. But Tristan is patient and he has plans on how to win Isobel's heart and convince everyone that their love can bring peace in both families by using wit and not swords. As the days turn to weeks and the stories he spins of long ago knights and damsels in distress become more interesting the ice melts around Isobel's heart and too soon she finds herself completely ensnared in Tristan's trap or maybe it is the arms that are wrapped around her. Yet there is one hurdle that Tristan must knock down and that would be his family and to convince them that this is a love match is another story that makes one believe anything is possible with a determined man and a stubborn woman. But when all the skeletons come out of the closet and the truth no one can bear to hear is revealed will love be enough to keep them together? Paula Quinn has written another engrossing story in the MacGregor saga and this son is as enticing and fun as the last. The men are such wonderful hero's but such how venerable
