In recent years, the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) field has become a focus on intensive research since it has been deployed in various applications in real time. This research work focuses on a cluster based wireless sensor network (CWSN) that incorporates problems of poor performance and scalability in WSN. Due to its cost-efficiency and compatibility, cluster-based WSN has become an active research field in recent decades. Energy efficiency has been one of the most vital issues in WSN. Since WSNs are made up of tiny hungry sensor nodes, it is difficult to maintain the energy level of these nodes for a long time to improve the life of the network. Security is a vital issue in different WSN applications, in another aspect. This necessitates an efficient key management scheme. Various key management schemes for a CWSN were proposed, depending on the various applications and security requirements. The present research work is intended to develop an energy efficient CWSN with secured data transmission. The work deals with the detailed discussion on different protocols as per the defined categorization and to highlight the importance of the routing protocols and security schemes for data aggregation in CWSN, and to propose the new secure and energy efficient data transmission schemes and it should be evaluated by various performance parameters.
