This is a wonderful book with great insights into renewing your marriage and all your relationships. I'm leading a womens book club that is enjoying the wisdom of the author. We purchased the video series as well and really are benefitting from the guest speakers as an addition to discussing the book. We're experiencing the tranforming work through this book and through the work of the Lord!

Great "Secrets" that apply to all relationships!

I rounded up some girlfriends of mine to do this new women's Bible study. It seemed like a great topic for someone like me who recently got married. I have to admit I had some reservations at first. My favorite color may be hot pink, but the butterfly on the front made me a little skeptical because I wasn't looking for a fluffy feel-good study; I wanted solid, biblical principles. Thankfully, that's what I found. The study is called Secrets: Transforming Your Life and Marriage but it is truly more focused on the life part and just applies that to marriage. Obviously marriage is the most important human relationship we can have, but this book teaches principles that apply to every relationship and most importantly, our relationship with our Heavenly Father. My favorite chapter was "The Secrets to a Strong Inner Life." Sounds a little new-age-y, but it is filled with Truth to fight against common temptations like doubt, bitterness, insecurity, anxiety, etc. The questions at the end of the chapters are a great self-evaluation and application tool. They pop into my head when I get frustrated due to unrealistic expectations, differences between my husband and I, etc. If you are looking for a study to go through individually, with friends, or even in a more formal study setting, you should check out this book. I Wish I'd Read This As A Newlywed!

If you're looking to recharge your marriage and give your role as a wife new meaning, this Bible study will open up your eyes and your heart. I just finished going through it with a group of women and definitely recommend it to every wife, whether you're a newlywed or have been married for many years. Even if you're considering divorce, Secrets can help. What I like about this study is the complete honesty. Kerry doesn't lecture by any means, but she does tell the truth, from God's Word. Going through the study challenged me to take a hard look at my own motives and attitudes. I saw patterns of selfishness and disrespect toward my husband. As I asked God to change my heart and help me become the wife He wanted me to be, I began to see my relationship with my husband grow and deepen. God helped me better understand how to meet his needs and communicate more effectively. But most important, I was reminded of what it really takes to have a strong, fulfilled life and marriage--a daily, consistent relationship with God. Certainly some of the secrets spoke to me more than others, but I liked how each one tied into the main idea that God is the only person who can truly fulfill you. He is the foundation, the "secret ingredient" to a truly loving marriage. I intend to keep this book and refer back to it often in the future for encouragement. One bonus is the list of Scriptures at the back with little suggestions for ways to pray for yourself and your husband. Very practical and effective. I've watched my interactions with my husband improve and our love grow just from praying for us. For women who have not yet started a relationship with Christ, the book explains how to begin. There is even helpful contact information for wives who may be experiencing abuse. All in all, this is a fantastic resource for women, a beacon to guide you through your marriage's dark times and lead you into a solid relationship with God and your husband. I think every married woman desires deep intimacy and love in her marriage. But how do you achieve and then maintain that, especially if you've experienced deep hurt? Secrets shares the answers. They're not always easy, and you may have to change your attitude in certain areas, but the reward is a stronger life and marriage.
