Some Good, Some Bad

Jenifer Probst, "Masquerade" - Unlikely story of a modern day hedonist mogul who throws orgies. A sexually repressed employee travels to Italy to his latest shindig to have an affair with him, unaware that the man behind the mask is her best friend. The sex was a little vanilla, the romance thin, the setting sparse. Not the worst I've read, but far from the best. Jess Micaels, "Ancient Pleasures" - Lots of potential. The widow of a disgraced Egyptologist must replace an artifact that killed her husband to the tomb of the greatest mistress of ancient Egypt. Trapped inside the temple with a hunky tomb raider a curse of sensual madness weaves an unbelievably erotic spell over them. I really did believe that they'd fallen in love. Kimberly Dead, "Manhunt" - I am so bored by it, though it's technically perfect. A D.A. prosecuting a one-time love interest vice cop is held captive by him when he breaks out of jail. He has his wicked way with her and they work to uncover who killed a young boy. I think I don't like it because 1) the sex is stressed as kinky but it's so vanilla I wonder why she's so shocked and 2) the back story whodunit is mind-bogglingly stupid. Skip it, or just thumb through to find the sex scenes. Angela Knight, "Wake Me" - Genius! Creative, funny, romantic, scorching. A hunky medieval knight has been cursed by an evil witch into a painting, let out only as a dream walker seducing women. He must make one fall in love with him but none have ever stirred him until he meets a spunky modern gal who's tough as nails, and his perfect lover. Lots of D/s and great fantasy scenes, the erotic dreams are right out of stereotypical romance novels but thirty times hotter. You'll read it over-and-over again.

If this book doesn't get you into a romantic and sexy mood, then surely you must be dead. I loved each story in this anthology and even found myself wanting to go back and re'read a few. Whew, these authors can spin a fantasy like nobody's business. My advice to the readers of the world: let your troubles drift away, and slip into a little something HOT!

First, she always starts will such strong characters, then she moves to romance - real romance - and then she layers on the steam. She is a talent to watch! In this tale, Chloe teaches others to see the realities of life, but she has never faced her inner own realities, her yearnings. Harme is pure magic!Secluded by Lisa Marie Rice is a dark tale. Nicholas Lee is wealthy, he is powerful, but with that wealth and power comes very determined enemies. Enemies determined to will kill anyone he loves. When Isabelle Summerby steals his hear, Nicholas spirits her away to his underground palace to live a lifetime in mere days. A very diverting tale that shows strong imagery. Good grasp of what makes a romance work.So all in all, Secrets Vol. 9 will have something to please every tasted!

Variety IS the Spice of Life

The "Secrets" series is known for its variety and spiciness. Volume 9 continues that traiditon with stories by Bonnie Hamre Kimberly Dean, Lisa marie Rice and Kathryn Anne Dubois. All four combine love, sex, passion, and a cute plot to keep the reader's interest from first page to last. I have never been dissatisfied with a book from this series. Get this book now for some steamy summer reading.My favorite? Secluded by Lisa Marie Rice. The plot is packed with tention and although you know that the story will end on a good note, Rice keeps you occupied until the last word.Least favorite? Wild for You. The plot device is weak and unrealistic. That doesn't take away from the hot sex.Would I buy this book? Yes. Would I keep this book? Maybe.

If you're looking for heat with substance to boot, you'll want to run, not walk and get yourself a copy of SECRETS, Volume 9. Each story in this anthology is great, and each is very different. "Wild About You" by Kathryn Anne Dubois is a erotic and touching Tarzan fantasy where two worlds collide with sensual results. Kimberly Dean's heroine is on the run from her FBI hero in "Wanted". Being a fugitive never sounded so good. In Lisa Marie Rice's "Secluded" a former mobster decides to pack a lifetime of love into a few precious weeks, but doesn't count on the woman who refuses to let go so easily. And Bonnie Hamre's "Flights of Fantasy" takes the term Love Boat to an entirely new realm.Each story packs in the erotic elements, but manages to find that wonderful balance between love and pure sex. A great buy if you like hot romance.
