Best Catholic Character Building book Ever

We love this book. We have read this book a couple of times as a family. The Character Building ideas are fantastic. Great book!

Best book for youth to adult on building characters

This is by far the most comprehensive and in depth self improvement book that I have read in 40 years. This book is not only good for children, but also an excellent reading for adults. I have been reading this book to my children (age 5 to 16) and have discussion with them every morning. The children have behaved much better since. Even for myself, I have learned a lot from this book. The chapters are very well organized and structured. Beginning chapters explain why character is important, then talk about character is something we all can do something about. It is not something that is determined by your gene or dictated by the environment that you grow up with. Important point is that you can change it. Next, talk about that it is important to have a meaningful goal so the character that you are developing is driving towards that noble goal. After that, each chapter talk about what it takes to improve...such as perseverance, through study, through learning from your own mistakes, learn from others, develop good habits, etc. It is based on catholic belief so it devotes one chapter for each of the virtue - prudence, justice, temperate, and fortitude. I have described so far about half of the book. There are much more to learn in the 2nd half. It is a book everyone should keep and read every year to refresh and meditate on. I will definitely make every one of my children to keep this in their future homes. It was written by a Jesuit priest over 75 years ago; however, the wisdom is absolutely applicable in any era.
