interesting reading i live in duluth and know the story well but always nice to read more about it

A very interesting, quick read...

...and I highly recommend reading it before touring Glensheen. I have toured the mansion 3 different times now - the most recent time being in September '06. It differed this time in that the guides will answer questions about the murder, yet don't elaborate. In talking to one of the guides, they found this particular book to have several errors in it... so it was not a favorite of theirs. They did not say what the errors were.

Takes You Inside the Mansion and the Murders

"Secrets of the Congdon Mansion" is a fast, fun read. I sure got my money's worth. I can see why this is one of Minnesota's best known murders. It feels like a game of Clue, except it's all true. This book has good villains and victims. It also also has the right mix of news and gossip. I especially enjoyed the author's behind-the-scene stories about the case, like being the only nonfamily member allowed to attend the killer's funeral. I was pleased that it was very update and included very recent events. You don't have to tour Glensheen to appreciate the tale, but if you do this book has helpful maps and diagrams of the rooms.

Must read about the secret Glensheen mansion murders!

We toured the Glensheen mansion and it was amazing. While on the tour, I inquired about the two mysterious murders. The tour guides would not say a thing about the murders - acting like they never occurred! This intrigued us even more so we had to find this book (which is banned from the mansion's gift shop!) The book explains what happened the evening of the murders, including how the murderer snuck into the mansion and how the murders were committed. Very interesting! I suggest this book to anyone who has toured the estate and to those who want to...but don't ask what room the murders happened in, because the guides won't tell you. You must figured it out on your own!

Cool book about Minnesota murders

They wouldn't tell us about the murders when we went on the tour of Glensheen, but one of the guides mentioned this book. We got it and it really showed what happened and where and why. Easy to read, too, my husband read it aloud in the van on the way home. Everyone liked it, even the kids.
