Brief & packed with good advice

I have a dog-eared copy of "Secrets of Successful Writing" that is at least a decade old. I keep it within reach of my desk, alongside Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style." I still refer to it, even though I've virtually memorized a lot of it, to find a substitute for an overused buzzword or to check whether I (or someone else) used a frequently misused word correctly. If you follow DeWitt Scott's advice, it certainly will improve your writing. If you don't need his advice, then you must be a great writer already. My only complaint about "Secrets of Successful Writing" is that it is out of print.
