A Test of Faith

Everyone knew from birth that Beth McDade was a special child. Her brother Carl and their close friends, Manny Jefferson and David Spencer, also knew there was something special about Beth. They saw she had a knack for knowing just when something bad was going to happen. For Beth, this gift was frustrating because many in her community of Plover Creek, Texas thought she was cursed. As Beth grew up on the McDade Horse Ranch and within a godly family, she learned her gift enabled her to hear the voice of God. Unfortunately, four years prior Beth was brutally attacked by someone she knew personally, and her faith suffered a blow as well. Now, having to prepare for the funeral of her father, Reverend Ray McDade, Beth is overwhelmed by suspicions of foul play. Circumstances surrounding her father's death, the death of a few friends, several disappearances, and a nagging sense that something is being relayed to her, Beth becomes incensed that there is more going on in Plover Creek than meets the eye. Through her reservations, she keeps wondering God is trying to speak to her, and if so, why can't she hear Him? All she can hear is a distant rumble of thunder. As she searches for answers, her personal life takes yet another turn when David Spencer returns to town with his son, Bree. Will she seek and find God in all the turmoil that is brewing? Lee has written an inspiring account of restoring one's faith when it looks like circumstances surrounding life has all but destroyed it. She shows God is never far away from any of his children. He is always ready and willing to accept us back into the fold, when we are willing to focus on Him only. Sometimes He has to carry us through situations in order for us to depend on Him. Lee's writing is fluid and her characters are intriguing. I love the added suspense in this novel with the twists.
