The Ultimate Cookbook

Could a cookbook be better written and more comprehensive? I think not! I feel as though I'm sitting in the author's kitchen, learning of her family and community. As we converse, however, she shares tips on how to purchase produce, the importance of using particular brand names, and the histories of many foods. This is a perfect surprise gift for graduates, newlyweds, a friend who needs a pick-me-up, a retirement gift, or your own spouse or child.

A must have

I received this cookbook, took it my boyfriends house and can't get it back. Him and his friends love it so much it sits on his table open everytime I go over, which is often. We like the fact that the recipes are for real eaters and real cooks and not so much fluff and not filled with recipes that take days to make. Everyone who picks it up loves it and wants a copy. It has a load of helpful information on how to pick meat and vegetables and how to store them and what they should look like once cooked. The helpful hints are my favorite. I can't say enough about it. I loved the family history and how she honored the people who taught her. We've tried many recipes and each one was a hit with adults and kids, my boys are 8 and 10 and very picky. This is by far my favorite cookbook and my guy loves it too.

This is an absolutely fabulous cookbook. In addition to presenting terrific recipes that will appeal to virtually everyone, it contains a wealth of general information about food and cooking. It's very well written and extremely interesting to read. Everyone should have it.

This book earns five stars from me because of the wealth of detailed information it provides on choosing quality produce. That information alone is more than worth the price of the whole book. The author's expertise from a lifetime in the grocery business really shows through. And, there are also dozens of very good recipes.
