The words of Abbot Alphonsus are precise, 'Brother, the Secret of Fatima has been stolen. You must get the letter back for the Vatican. You must protect the Church and its one billion members.' The... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I just finished reading The Secret of Fatima and liked it very much. It is a stand-out novel! The author's knowledge of the Church, the Vatican, the Trapist Monks, the CIA and an esthetic's life in India are impressive. The well drawn characters driven by the hunt for the two page letter play their parts in seeking, hiding or destroying The Secret of Fatima. The book is a monumental research task which, in turn, makes for a fast paced, compelling read.

John VanBuskirk has spun an excellent story of mystery and intrigue based on true facts and myths surrounding the real Secret of Fatima. It is very hard to believe this is Mr. VanBuskirk's first novel. He obviously did his homework. From the Vatican,to the life of a monk, to the workings of the CIA, VanBuskirk's novel is filled with interesting details that make his story come to life. His characters are no exception, and his story line will make you take a deep look at how you view life as well.

The Secret is Out, Secret of Fatima is Great

Secret of Fatima is a top-notch action and suspense novel. I liked the fact that it's centered on an authentic mystery. Mr. VanBuskirk has taken the fascinating events of Fatima, added the frustrating decision of the Catholic Church not to share the Secret with its faithful, and stirs the pot by crafting a story involving someone stealing the Secret from underneath the Pope's nose. To top it off, the CIA, knowing the infamous Secret is loose, now wants it for themselves. VanBuskirk does a nice job mixing fact and fiction. His characters and situations are constantly complex. I especially like the dilemma confronting the head Cardinal who must choose between "silencing" the thieves forever or allowing the Secret to be exposed - "he saves the souls of millions but loses his own". The author also blends religion (Blessed Mother, God, sin, etc.) with contemporary hooks (sex, betrayal, violence...). In the end, the fifty-year-old Secret is revealed. VanBuskirk's notions are thought provoking, highly possible, and worth the journey. I high recommend it!
