Secret Door in the Closet: A product of the Young Authors Writing Program at the Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos California

The youth adventure book is a collection of fourteen fantasy stories written by eleven members of the Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos (California). The stories were about children discovering and using a magic doorway at the club. Each young author wrote a story that was unique and was written independently. Three additional stories were written in collaborative efforts of two and three of the young authors. The stories include fantasy visits to theme parks, adventures in mythical lands, interactions with animals, and catastrophic events.The author establishes an opening definition of the magical portal in a closet in the Dance Room at the local Boys and Girls Club that can only be accessed by members of the club in the 6th grade. Those children experience bazaar, exciting, and dangerous trips through imaginary places in their minds that only last a few minutes in real time.These stories were written during the first Young Authors Writing Program as a summer camp activity at the San Marcos Club under the leadership of the author, John Nabors, Eric Deal, a Club Staff Member and the author's wife, Winnie Nabors. The authors were fifth through ninth graders and ten to fourteen years old.The variety of the stories will keep the reader involved in the mystery and novelty of the stories that vary as much as the authors themselves.
