The poems in Second-Hand Love Stories are concerned with issues of the body, domesticity, the divine, motherhood, and the beloved-all through the lens of longing. Domestic spaces are explored and subverted, the body is ever-present and often fractured, and the language we use to describe infertility is examined and manipulated. The speaker of these poems is attempting to render what cannot be put into words-a lack that cannot be fulfilled.
