A collection of historical articles and documents of Seattle Washington, from its founding in 1852 up to the present day. Taken from a colleciton of newpaper articles written by Paul Dorpat for the Seattle Times. The book focuses on the historical disticts of Seattle from 1852 until now. Thus the title "Now and Then" A very entertaining and readable book, broken up in short article like segments. Many are accompanied by photographs from the neighborhoods they were written about, that were taken during the era of the story. Photos of comtemporary views are also included to show the same place, many years later. The book, the second in a series of three so far by this author. Unforuntatley I have not been able to locate the first in this series. I do have volumn 3 however. There are one hundred and twelve stories in volume 2. My favorite is about the Six Bridges to West Seattle. The article tells of opening day for the "new High bridge" in 1983 with a band and parade. The original had been built in 1910 In 1851 the frustrating task of getting to and from West Seattle begun, and this was a much looked for solution. Beautiful photographs are included on the same pages. A must read for Seattle livers, and lovers of history. It makes a wonderful gift. I know because it was given to my for my birthday by my good friend Karla. Thanks very much Karla Enjoy, Kevin Haddenham
