Simon Bienvenue knows all about paradise. Born and raised in Varda, the Monaco of the Caribbean, Simon is native to sand and sun and breeze. It was his easy-going confidence that saw him end up with Rachel. When everything went wrong in Varda and Simon could no longer go home, Rachel talked him into applying for a position at Ville Mer, a floating island off the coast of Honduras with a small community of open-seas scientists, wealthy tourists, and the people that keep the place running.

Waves, weather, sun, and the constant mist of salt water keep the people of Ville Mer busy, but especially the technical staff like Simon. When a stray fishing net sets off a sequence of safe-guards, Simon discovers an unexpected risk to the citizens of Ville Mer. With hurricane season coming and emotions running high, Simon has to not only solve the technical issue but also find his place in the colony if it's going to keep itself together and thrive into the future.
