After the death of both Liz Carlson's parents, she takes a sabbatical from her job as a lawyer. Liz looked for comfort in her favorite place. He continues to pass through her mind as she remembers her seventeen-year crush on the boy next door. Alone with only her thoughts, she recalls the infatuation of a wide eyed ten-year-old for a seventeen-year-old neighbor.

Mr. Wilson also sought solace at the beach to continue his life without his wife. Their lives entwine when his four-year-old granddaughter Bailey is left in his care for the summer. Liz envisions this summer to be perfect until Nick returns for a visit with his daughter.
