Lawson is sent overseas to retrieve three paintings for an exhibition. He has a thorny love affair with a Russian Latvian firetwirler, does a deal with two shady characters in Brazil and runs for his life from a madman in Beijing. When Lawson discovers that he has actually become involved in an art world scam, he begins to question the true value of art.

This novel reminds me of J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. If you're an artist; or you love an artist; or you've been through art school; or you've been to a gallery or museum where the labels don't just carry the title, artist's name, and media report but also contain eye-ball rollingly snooty BS touting High Brow Themes and Divinely Inspired Symbolism, then this book is for you.
