Perfect for smart people looking for a new job or challenge

Slesinger's book is an excellent blueprint for beginning a search and following through, even when life gets in the way. The step-by-step game plan and practical advice alone are worth the cover price, and best of all Slesinger leaves you motivated and feeling like you want to immediately get started hunting for your next great job. I have to confess that I literally missed my bus stop while examining the section on resumes; I do a lot of hiring and I see a lot of resumes, and his advice is dead on. If you want a new job or think you might, get this book now.

Terrific & practical guide for nonprofit job seekers!

If you are searching for a job in the nonprofit sector, this book is a must read! In a very readable, slim book, Larry Slesinger has done a terrific job of packing in strategic advice (e.g., connect your past to the employer's future) with practical tips (e.g., arrive at an interview 15 minutes early). As the CEO of an executive search firm specializing in nonprofit jobs, Larry tells you what recruiters and nonprofit employers look for in a cover letter, resume, interview, and compensation negotiations. The book is well organized and the key points are conveniently summarized at the end of each chapter. A real bargain!

Excellent review for approaching nonprofit jobs

This is a concise but thorough education for aspiring job applicants on the "how to's" of approaching non-profits for employment. I read the book for my own interests - as trustee of a charitable foundation - and then gave it to my son, who is a college sophomore: the chapter on resume writing is, among other notable chapters, very useful for employment applications, whether as a novice or experienced professional. It's very helpful to find a resource with such an extensive, clearly-written discussion of relevant topics that can be read in a reasonable amount of time and then be applied immediately to practical situations.

Thank you Larry!

A fast read, jam packed with information on how to find your dream job. While focusing on non-profits, this book will work for peple trying to find any type of job -- for Profit, non-Profit, consulting, freelance, you name it. It also features a very powerful chapter on networking.

This book answers all the questions jobseekers have

As an executive search consultant, I am approached byhundred of job seekers asking for help in finding a job in nonprofits. This book is a well-organized, concise step-by-step guide that offers just the same advice I have given time after time. Now my first suggestion is to buy this book. It offers sound, practical and easy-to-follow suggestions. I am getting great feedback from those I have sent to Larry's book.
