Set in the fictional PollenFresh Town, which is in Tokyo, Japan in the early 1980's, the prequel to the first-ever Anime Book series called 'Scout Masters' tells the tale of a teenage boy named Henry Hans, who is given a magical device known as a Spirit Pen, which enables him and other chosen ones to transform into powerful heroes known as the Scout Masters Henry, who can transform into Scout Master Pluto hereditarily (sans his father Maki Hans, who destiny rejected because he is not purehearted and has a humorous temper), and his team of friends must locate and triumph over an evil force known as the Majestic Guru, a fearsome half-man, half-spider creature, who resides in a monster-filled dimension called the Spirit World. His henchman, an elf sorcerer called Master Shitonku, sends scary monsters to the town's forest to wreak havoc Henry's kooky, kimono-clad best friend Jakuta Kioki tells him of his destiny as Scout Master Pluto, the legendary leader of the Scout Masters and the Hero to the Innocent, a role his future son Hiro Hans will inherit two decades later. Jakuta is soon revealed to be the Scout Master of Thunder - Scout Master Venus With other friends (namely Giaki Haknuchi/Scout Master Neptune, Saki Sanjuki/Scout Master Mars, and Beloan Ishiji/Scout Master Jupiter), they embark upon a wild adventure, which includes heated encounters with Henry's rival Monteke Kazadred (a boy chosen to be then-wicked Scout Master Saturn) and twists and turns, as they fight against evil
