The Scottish Terrier, sometimes known as the Scottie, is a dog breed. It is one of five terrier breeds that originated in Scotland, the others being the contemporary Skye, Cairn, Dandie Dinmont, and West Highland White Terriers. They are a tough and independent breed with a wiry outer coat and a soft, dense undercoat. The breed was dubbed "the diehard" by the First Earl of Dumbarton.
