Vicky will do anything to get off the obituary circuit and on to the front page If there's one thing Vicky has learnt as an obituary writer, it's how to spot something fishy at a funeral - and plenty is amiss at the service for Gordon Berry. The man was a champion hedge cutter so why are people willing to believe he electrocuted himself by striking a power line with his own clippers? At the reception there are rumblings of foul play - not to mention a fistfight between a mourner and the local Lothario. And in her quest for a scoop, Vicky will find she has to confront everything - from bad dates to mortal danger... A good strong English mystery. Hannah Dennison is fast becoming a favorite novelist of mine. She paints a mystery the good ol'fashioned way with a clever wicked twist, stirred with a tinge of fleshy heat. My mind was led by her descriptive words then whipped my feet into motion as I was led to a seat right there in the pews during the funeral, or at her shoulder as she did her detective work in the streets of Gipping. I will be giving this book to many for gifts to read over the summer. Bravo Ms. Dennison! p.s. I am impatiently awaiting your next!

I finished reading SCOOP! last night and I'm still smiling. The mystery was a great puzzle, and the author writes with a wonderful, sly sense of humor. I was always an Agatha Christie fan. Discovering Hannah Dennison is like finding a new Christie, but one who can make us laugh, too. Definitely recommended.
A new "Vicky Hill"!

I love the sly British humor in this book, and the mystery was a real puzzle. I'd never heard of Hannah Dennison until someone gave me her previous book about Vicky Hill, but I bought this one and now I'm looking forward to the next one. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to spend time in an English village, and solve a murder without leaving the house.
Addicted to humor in mysteries

I was delighted when I discovered the first book in this series a year ago, and because I so enjoyed it I admit to being a little worried: could the author keep up the high standard she'd set? The answer is yes! Hannah Dennison is a writer who was new to me, but I've become her fan. SCOOP! is so full of eccentric and entertaining characters that I'd almost like to move to Gipping-on-Pym. The mystery is a clever plus. as it was in the first book, "A Vicky Hill Exclusive." The author has a gift for coming up with bizarre ways to die: electrocution by hedge clipper? And yet when I entered the world of this book I found myself believing all of the nutty goings-on. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants a good mystery and a good laugh. Hannah Dennis is a real find!
