A GREAT SURPRISE!!

What a wonderful twist to the usual worn out vampire novel. Ariel Swanson is a headstrong female with loads of gumption. She collides w/Jachin Black, the alpha male vampire and a marvelous journey begins for anyone who is lucky enough to open this book and tag along for an inspiring, imaginative ride through a world of distrust & loyalty filled with hate, fear and love. Try it you'll love it!

Definitely a keeper!!

SCIONS: RESURRECTION is the first book in a trilogy by Patrice Michelle for Silhouette's Nocturne series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Patrice Michelle writes a fast-paced romance with complex characters and a wonderful plot. It is fun to watch the characters as they grow and learn about themselves and their destiny. The story centers around timid writer Ariel Swanson, who is terrified of vampires, and Jachin Black, a vampire who hates humans. While they fight for their lives, they realize they can trust each other and learn to love. They learn that hatred and fear have no place in their future and work to restore peace in their home. This was the first book by Patrice Michelle that I have read and I hated to put it down. It is the type of story that you can't stop thinking about, and I can not wait for the other two to come out. I highly recommend this to everyone, even if you don't normally like paranormal romance. This one is a keeper!

wonderful vampire romantic suspense thriller

Humans believe that the vampire species became extinct when their food supply became contaminated; human blood had turned poisonous to the bloodsuckers. Thus Homo sapiens created and killed this "abomination" that no one misses. That belief that vampires no longer exist except in literature and movies ends at least for debut author Ariel Swanson. Her vampire thriller The Vampire's Return includes a forecasting that no human should know anything about; yet she writes about this legendary prophecy in graphic detail in her first novel as if she is an insider. Exiled vampire Jachin Black kidnaps the writer in order to use her as his ticket back out of the New York City slums and in to his group. He never expected to fall in love with his prisoner during their trek; she feels the same confusion that he does. Neither expected her fiction to be factual. Patrice Michelle provides a wonderful vampire romantic suspense thriller. The fast-paced story line has an interesting twist that humans knew vampires once existed, but now believe they are extinct. Ariel's novel turns out to be the impetus in what proves to be a cross species war. Fans will enjoy the RESURRECTION: THE BEGINNING as the night is filled with terror except in one home where love shines. Harriet Klausner

a sexy and satisfying read

Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques A CK2S Recommended Read! Vampires are extinct... or are they? Ariel's family was slaughtered by vampires and she's the only one left. Hoping to conquer her fear of the monsters once and for all, she wrote a vampire romance novel intending for it to purge the horror from her mind. Unfortunately, all it did was cause a huge controversy over the existence of vampires... and bring her to the attention of the Sanguinas. The Sanguinas are a vampire clan hiding out in the forests, just trying to survive in a world where human blood is deadly to them. Jachin was banished from the Sanguinas and made to live in human society, hiding his true nature from everyone, and killing for money. When he discovers a supposedly fictional novel based on the very prophecy that has kept his hopes alive, believing that someday vampires would once again be able to live free. He knows he has part of the answer - if only he can get Ariel to the vampire leader who banished him, to fulfill the prophecy. Jachin never counted on falling for the stubborn woman. I've never read a Patrice Michelle novel before since she writes primarily erotica, but since Resurrection is a Nocturne I knew the heat level would be dialed down a bit. Then there is the fact that the story sounded so wonderful that I just couldn't resist. What a fantastic book! Action levels are intense and high, keeping the book fast paced and engrossing. The romance is beautifully done, with so much conflict and tension between Ariel and Jachin that we wonder how they will ever make it at the same time we know they are meant for each other. World building is brilliantly done, with Resurrection taking place in a near future society. Here, the vampires are a failed laboratory experiment and human blood has somehow become poisoned, forcing the vampires to rely on each other for the nourishing blood they require. What a great concept. While this in itself isn't exactly a new idea, Patrice Michelle handles it with finesse, making it become fresh and exciting. Of course, knowing Patrice Michelle is known for her erotic romance stories, I expected the heat to rise as soon as Ariel and Jachin meet. The sexual tension between them is intense, sparking the moment Jachin flies in to throw Ariel over his shoulder and whisk her away to safety (but was it really safe?) from her newly indentified enemies. Sparks fly every time Ariel and Jachin are together and when they finally break down, caving under the pressure of their undeniable attraction, the love scenes will singe your fingers with their intensity. I found Resurrection to be a sexy and satisfying read that I hated having to put away so I could take care of those mundane things in life like work and sleep. While this volume in the series is complete in and of itself, the ending hints and future events sure to be delved into with future books in the series. I was left hungering for more of the exciting Scions world, eager to kn

Wonderful start to a new series!

What a truly wonderful book!! I totally fell in love with Jachin! What a fine alpha hero!! And with such a heart!! Yuuuuummmmm! And I loved Ariel, who had just enough innocence, humor, strength and pluck! There was action, suspense, caring and love all rolled into this. I so love the kind of book that makes me want the family to go away(only for a little while!!) And the kind that I can't stop thinking about the characters and what's to happen next, when I've had to put it down to do something else!! And Scions:Resurrection was this kind. I cannot wait for the next in the series; Scions:Insurrection. What a GREAT read. I loved, loved, LOVED this book!!! I've already started rereading it!!
