Science Fiction

Dr. Evelyn Grossherin has discovered how to cheat death, but death is trying to cheat back. Will her lifetime of work be destroyed by her unwitting participation in a grisly crime? Will she find the truth before she becomes the next victim of a homicidal maniac? Is her only enemy her own paranoia? And what about Spencer Knoll, the slacker who has fashioned his repulsiveness into an oddly seductive charm? Is he an innocent dupe or a Machiavellian charlatan? The answers lie in the increasingly disturbed thoughts of a brain floating in a vat of amniotic fluid-thoughts only Evelyn and her bank of supercomputers can read. The brain, however, has its own agenda, one that involves melding science and fiction until the two are almost, but not quite, indistinguishable. All Evelyn can be sure of is that the truth isn't what it used to be.

An off-beat love story peppered with hilarious one-liners from a character you hate to love and an ending that will knock your socks off, then wash and fold them, combine to make Science Fiction a must-read, instant classic.

I loved It!

Spencer Knoll realizes he can't see, hear, speak, feel or move. Terrified though he is, his heart doesn't pound. There's no rush of adrenaline, no fight or flight. Just fear: deep all consuming fear. His memory begins to return in sharp fragments like reflections in a shattered mirror. He needs to remember his last days, determine how he got in this pickle, and figure out how to save himself. Meanwhile, Eveylyn Grossherin, a scientist at the secluded Gate/Buffet Institute, makes an exciting discovery. One of her subjects-a human brain severed from its body-has retained full consciousness, something no respected mainstream scientist has postulated. She can read its thoughts and communicate with it. There can be life after death! A brain can be preserved and maintained after the heart and the rest of the body fails. But wait. Can she ignore that it was stolen from its body without consent and in total violation of the Institute's protocol? And no, she is not falling in love with it. Is she? Science Fiction is an edgy, hilarious novel with a great grasp of the human tragicomedy-its dimensions, its absurdities and horrors.

Great Book

It's been forever since I picked up a book that I couldn't put down, that had me reading until sunrise, and very glad that I was safely tucked in my warm bed, instead of floating in a tank of amniotic fluid unable to sense anything but fear. Science Fiction is a page turner until the very end! It is very well written with great characters and hilarious turns of phrase. With novels like these to light the way, there is hope for a more luminous future. A+
