Scepter of the Gods: The Rod of Truth

By Mark Mills

A relic older than history. A power disguised as myth.

Alex has carried a secret his entire life. Found as an infant on the steps of The Citadel, he was raised under one unbreakable rule: keep the rod hidden. Keep it safe. He never questioned it ... until a stranger outsmarts him, steals what he was born to protect, and drags him into a quest he never asked for.

The rod is no ordinary heirloom. It's the Rod of Truth, the centerpiece of the Scepter of the Gods, a relic of lost civilization built to channel a power the modern world has forgotten exists. And it is only one of five pieces.

Joining Alex is Mila, a wilderness healer whose spirit animal bonds run deeper than blood, her lineage tied to the old world's most dangerous secrets. Then there's Phelia, talented, ambitious, and furious, who commands shadow magic she barely understands and fled her uncle's house with another piece of the Scepter, thinking it was nothing more than a beautiful bauble. It gets stolen before she can blink. Now she needs Alex as much as she resents him.

When Alex's childhood friend Peter reappears at exactly the wrong moment, the timing feels less like coincidence and more like design.

As the pieces surface, so does a truth no one was prepared for: everything they've been taught about their gods and magic, their history, and their purpose may be an elaborate lie, built by forces ancient enough to have shaped civilization itself. For each of them, this is more than a quest. This is a coming-of-age reckoning, a moment when magic breaks open and identity has to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Heroes aren't born. They're forged.

The Rod of Truth is a dark fantasy adventure woven from epic mythology, ancient historical mystery, and science fiction - a richly layered world where archaeology, mythology, and "what if it were all true?" collide within echoes that reach back to Earth's prehistoric past.
