The story is set in present-day Los Angeles in all its glory: rolling streets, palm trees, and barred-up windows. Paul May leads a simple life as a firefighter and single dad just trying to make it from day to day. His mother was his world, his rock, until she suddenly suffers a heart attack and passes away.
