Inside Bunker - Tension is building as violent executions become an everyday occurrence. The underground Church begins to grow as people start to feel uneasy about what is going on around them. As a defining line is drawn between darkness and light, the Church feels compelled to take their people and escape Bunker. In the midst of seeking a way around surveillance and the king's Ro-Guards with guns, Kami's roommate finds a Bible in her room and takes it to the king. Within days Kami is made Bunker's Queen instead of being executed, while her roommate is headed for the gallows. The underground Church has no explanation for this, except to believe that God has put Kami in that position for such a time as this.Outside - Seven is found near death by the people who own the dog he went searching for. While they are nursing the boy back to health, Yud falls to his death in an old part of their cavern home. They wrap the boy's body and take it back to the Ash, who they find sitting by a blazing fire, sick with worry for the boy and the girl Tish'a, who went out exploring together. Even though a search is launched, Tish'a is never found. The loss of four of their small group weighs heavily on the Ash, so when they return with the people to their home and find that Seven is still alive, they are encouraged to go on.
