As Raven lay in a hospital bed, recovering from a violent attempt on her life from the man who was supposed to love and care for her, she wondered at life and God's hand in it. Raven had left the army to make a better life for her son, to be there for him more. Little did she know the hardships that awaited her in civilian life or how much the structure of army life was keeping her together. Internal scars she thought she could deal with on her own broke open like a burst dam as her body healed from the physical scars she now carried. There was a lot of work to do if she wanted to make a better life for herself and her son, Aaron. About the Author

Raven Day McShane is a decorated Army Veteran of several deployments, including the first Persian Gulf War. Since her time in the army, she has worked tirelessly and passionately to continue her service to humanity in numerous ways. She is a highly involved member of her community, working alongside the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, prison ministries, and other organizations to be an advocate to other veterans dealing with their own scars.
