Say Goodbye to Gert - A Western Odyssey Gertie has packed up her old pickup truck, "Pattycake," and is leaving her husband and their Oregon cattle ranch behind. She doesn't quite know where she's going or where she'll end up, but she bravely sets off, determined to carve out a better life for herself. What begins as a need to escape a bad marriage turns into an emotional road trip in which Gertie will have to face the secrets of her past and make amends with the people who really matter to her. Set in the western and southwestern United States, Say Goodbye to Gert is a study of the strength and courage of a hardworking woman whose life has never been easy. Will she finally find the happiness she longs for? Or will her colorful past get in the way?
Gert knows her way around a ranch; she's an authentic cowgirl and so much more! She's a bit like all of us.....she has some skeletons in the closet that she is brave enough to confront now that she is older and stronger. She's an inspiration for all of us who need to accept ourselves as we are, and be brave enough to face both our past and our future. It's a good story about about her personal journey to find herself; I enjoyed it.

A good read about a real cowgirl. She's tough and independent and knows her way around cattle and the west. She's had some tough times, but is determined to find her way to a better life. Kept my interest to the end. Would be good for a book club to share.

This is a great story of taking steps to change your life even when you don't know exactly what to do next. The courageous Gert is real with emotion and feelings while facing her past. She finds hope and healthy ways to deal with her future. The mysteries of her past and others keep the reader eagerly engaged all the way to the end of the book. As I am a city girl, I found the stuff about cattle interesting. Nice to be reminded we don't all fight traffic everyday. A good vacation from life in the city.
Fantastic story!

What a great story of a Western cowgirl and her search for personal peace and happiness. The characters are interesting and the story line kept me reading for hours to find out what would happen next. Just the right amount of suspense till the end. As a bonus, it was great to learn more about the amazing occupation of cattle ranchers. Definitely recommend to anyone.
