SAVING JFK: November 22, 1968

Sra and Cork were born in the 25th Century, and they were very much in love. They were one of a small number of couples who chose to migrate from their century of birth to a period in the past, where they would live out their lives. They chose 1963. They knew it would be a challenge to adjust to the oddities of the 20th Century and that they had a lot to learn, but what they did know attracted them so much that they wanted to live there. It was going to be a wonderful, life-long adventure. One of the things Sra wanted to do was to prevent the assassination they knew would occur on November 22, 1963. She wanted to save tens of thousands of lives, millions if you counted the Vietnamese who would die in the war. The problem was with the vice president who, as president, would accelerate the Vietnam War beyond belief. "That beast can never be president!" she said.Cork kept telling her that what she wanted to do was impossible; you couldn't change the time line. "Maybe you're right," she told him. "Maybe history does snap back to the original time line, and that nothing I can do can permanently change the future. But..." But she believed she could. It was a noble idea, and she tried to prevent the assassination. But what actually happened in the plaza on November 22, 1963, was very different than either Sra or Cork could imagine. Maybe Oswald hadn't actually done it. It certainly did not go as Sra had intended. Maybe she failed. Or did she? It wasn't really all that clear. But Sra was not the kind of person who would give up. She had tried to change history, and she had done so, at least a little. But to be certain, she had to take further action, which required her and Cork to become more and more involved in political intrigues, elections, even assassinations. And then they began to run into some very interesting people who seemed to know more about time lines than anyone could in the 20th Century...
