Saul Rejects God's Command: Little Lamb Rhymes

By Samuel DenHartog

A king is given a clear command from God, and everything depends on whether he will obey. At first, the battle is won and victory seems near, but hidden choices begin to tell a very different story. What looks strong on the outside is already starting to crack within.

When the prophet Samuel arrives, the truth can no longer be covered by proud words or religious excuses. A few spared animals, one captured king, and one question from Samuel bring everything into the open. In one of the most powerful moments in 1 Samuel, the story shows that God cares more about obedience from the heart than grand offerings meant to cover disobedience.

This dramatic Bible story leads young readers through victory, pride, excuses, confrontation, and sorrow, all while revealing the serious cost of turning away from God's word. It is a gripping and unforgettable chapter in Israel's history, filled with tension and truth from beginning to end. Children will see that outward actions cannot hide the heart, and that listening to God is always better than choosing their own way.
