Learn a lot about "the jewel of the solar system" in this marvelous book!

Saturn is a beautiful planet and some call it "the jewel of our solar system." If you were to study a sky chart, perhaps you would know where to look for Saturn. It looks like a very bright, shining star. If you were to travel there in a space ship it would take you a good solid three years to get there, but once you arrived you would not be able to step out on the surface because it is known as a "gas giant." With no solid surface you'd sink right in. This beautiful planet, this sixth from the sun, has rings around it. Did you know that one year on Saturn "equals 30 earth years?" There are many fascinating things to learn about this far away planet. In this book, as in all True Books, there are two true or false questions in the front of the book. Only one is true so you'll have to read this book carefully to find out the answers. In this book you'll learn about the atmosphere, the temperature, weather conditions, the history of its rings, the composition of the rings, how the rings are held in the orbit, what is known about the 59 moons (four in more detail) and the spacecraft called Cassini, which is "still circling the planet. Did you realize that if "a spaceship entered Saturn's atmosphere the tremendous pressure would crush it like a can?" This is a very comprehensive and interesting book for a young person to begin to explore the facts of our solar system. The book is colorful and appealing and the text is well written and very informative. Scattered throughout the book are numerous sidebars, full color photographs, drawings, an index, important words and recommended books and web sites. Did you know that radio signal take over an hour to get from Cassini to Earth? There are some very interesting facts in this book!

WOW

This book really tells a lot about Saturn and its relationships with the rest to astronomy. Saturn, being my favorite celestial body/planet, is so interesting to read about. Also, this book is fairly new, so it has good information. I learned many new things about Saturn from this book and I hope you will too.
