Balanced and reliable.

Fr. Steffon, a priest from Los Angeles, has provided a reliable and non-sensationalistic overview of satanism and occult practices in the US. The book has a personal and pastoral emphasis, so there are not a lot of statistical studies and historical footnotes; rather, there are real descriptions of the varieties and degrees of satanic influence especially among young people. There are a few lines here and there which I think could have been phrased more precisely, but these do not detract from the very solid service provided by this book. I can recommend the book with very few qualifications to anyone concerned about the recent rise of the occult in America.
