What you believe determines how you act. Most of the Western Christian church has been taught a version of the following: Satan was originally Lucifer, one of three archangels in Heaven. One day- not satisfied with being leader of the choir- he sought to become ruler and usurp God's throne. In the war that ensued, he was tossed out, along with his followers, one third of the angels. Satan and his demons are now in a pretty equal struggle with the forces of Heaven. While the eternal battle between good and evil makes for good, sommetimes great, fantasy, Barden argues the legend is just that. Fantasy. The book argues three basic points: Satan was never a fallen angel, let alone Lucifer. He is not an enemy equal in power to God, rather an enemy defeated at the cross on Calvary. Finally, the true Lucifer (light bearer in the Latin) was Adam. Dr. Barden uses both scripture and common sense in presenting his case. Each point for the accepted teaching is examined and another possible way of seeing said argument is presented. All throughout, Barden stesses the need for the church to know wha and behave as they truly are. This is not a theological forum. The choice to believe is incumbent upon each individual. I do encourage you to pick up this book whenever you find it, and prayerfully consider its message. What you believe determines how you act. "We can hardly conceive of that which he declares he has given! We are called the Enlightened Churh, yet we are ignorant of the type, quality, and extent of that light- glory, provision, earnest, dominion-with which he has filled us. Satan is not Lucifer, or the Shining One. Jesus Christ is the Shining One. Jesus though His Church is the Shining One."
